After a tough 14-3 loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday afternoon the San Diego Padres bounce back and get their first win of the season, winning the game 4-0. The Padres dominated the game defensively and offensively with 11 hits threatening to score more but were limited to doings so.
It was an outstanding performance by LHP Clayton Richards who forced the Los Angeles Dodgers bats to stay quiet. Richards forced the Dodgers to four double plays, those being in the bottom of the first, second, fourth and sixth inning. Ground balls and pop flies were a huge part on giving Richards and the Padres their first win of the season. Clayton Richards finished the game with 8.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB and 5 SO.
On the offensive side Wil Myers, Ryan Shimpf and Yangervis Solarte made the difference. Myers with 4 AB, 1 R, 2 H, and 1 RBI, Shimpf had 3 AB, 1 H and 1 RBI, lastly Solarte with 4 AB, 1 R, 2 H, and 2 RBI.
